Fire Station Jake and the Second Chance Crew
Earlier this year, Fort Worth was touched by the heartbreaking story of a pit bull named Jake, who was found tied to the flagpole outside Fort Worth Fire Station 8.
Beside him was a three-page handwritten letter with one heartbreaking plea: “Please Save My Baby.”
What happened next turned Jake’s story into a national message of hope. The incredible crew at Fire Station 8 opened their doors and their hearts to Jake, giving him the second chance he so desperately needed.
Jake’s story found its way to us one morning and immediately brought tears to our eyes. At Whistleslick Press, we believe in telling stories that touch hearts, inspire compassion, and leave a lasting positive message for readers of all ages—stories that families can share together and treasure on their bookshelves for years to come.
So, with full hearts, we are beyond excited to announce that Whistleslick Press and the incredible Fort Worth Fire Station 8 are teaming up to bring Jake’s story to life in a new children’s book!
